Being pregnant with a kidney stone = not fun!

Hi all!!

I must apologize as I have been a very delinquent blogger recently.  Carl & I recently sold our home in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia (where we lived for 6+ years) and bought a new home in Glenside, PA, a suburb of Philly, just 10 miles north of Center City.  We are finally settled in and very happy!!

Just days after we moved I suffered from a terrible kidney stone attack.  It took weeks to pass and sent me to the hospital for dehydration and some early contractions.  Not fun.  (I apologize sincerely to those clients that it affected!)  It was challenging to fight through weeks of intense pain without medication but I feel much more prepared for labor now!  At least labor is quicker and you get a beautiful baby in the end instead of an ugly stone!!

Perhaps it is strange to share this information on my blog but it was quite an experience for me.  Also, I thought that there must be other pregnant women out there suffering through kidney stones.  To them I’d like to say, it’s horrid, but you’ll get through it!  Carl & I used the pain to prepare for labor.  We practiced breathing together and massage, etc…  Perhaps in some strange way maybe it was a blessing… either way, I am simply glad that it is over!  🙂

Hopefully this doesn’t gross you out too much but below is a photograph of “Sharon Stone” (thanks, Danette for the nickname!) as well as a fun compilation photo just for kicks.  The possibilities to have fun with it are endless, I’m sure!  I’m actually glad it was huge as it helped to justify the pain that I felt!  The urologist & his staff were impressed by the size and said that they had seen a man pass out on the floor in pain from a stone that was the size of a poppy seed… so this is something!

In other news….. there is just 1 week to go until my “due date”.  We are super excited to meet this baby boy or girl very soon!  I will be certain to blog some portraits of the new baby as soon after as possible!  This baby will, among other things, be my photography muse for…. well, probably forever!

Below are 2 portraits of Carl & I in our new home.  One is the “normal” portrait and the other is the “so us” portrait.  I don’t know what we were doing there but it certainly makes me laugh.  Enjoy for now and I will update again soon!  Thanks for following along!  🙂

  2. Your new home and you are fabulous, really fabulous! Your mom shared the virtual tour of the house and it is “so you!” I felt every minute of that pain you had from the stone too! So happy it’s outta there! I wish for you, no more pain, even in labor. I will miss your blog this Summer as I enjoy it so! Many wishes for an easy Labor Day!
